Claire Sampson
Claire Sampson has a degree in Sculpture from the University of Ulster and an Advanced City & Guilds in Stonemasonry.
Inspired by nature and landscape, Sampson works with the beauty of the material to express life and movement. Each creation is a unique piece of artwork, directly carved out of natural stone. The main body of Sampson's work is for exhibitions and both public and private commissions.
Public examples of her work include the carved Stone Columns at Belfast Gasworks, two carved stone cats at Belfast Castle Gardens, a decorative sandstone seat at Down County Museum and the Mother and Child sculpture at Victoria Primary School, Newtownards.
Sampson is based in the Workshops Collective for Arts and Crafts and combines her skills in Sculpture and Stonemasonry to produce high quality works of art in sandstone and limestone.
